After a fierce round of bidding, the venerable Balapur Laddu has auctioned on Thursday for Rs 60 17.60 lakh. Lucky auction of 16.60 Lakhs a year is more than 1 lakh Lakhs compared to last year.
When the bidding for Laddu begins at 10.20 am, the streets of Balapur are also breaking down on the roofs and balconies of pilgrims with devotees and devotees. Among the onlookers were politicians, including Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy.
The bidding started at 11,116, and finally about 15 minutes later, local Balapur man Colon Ram Reddy won the auction, competing with the locals and other places like Nellore in Andhra Pradesh.
The successful Mr. Reddy then climbed the trailer carrying the Balapur Ganesh. He held 21 kg of laddoos over his head as a mark of respect. K. Balapur natives and Mr. Reddy’s relatives said this was the ninth time that the Kolan family had successfully auctioned for Balapur Laddu. It was first won at auction in 1994 when family patriarch Colon Mohan Reddy won Laddu for Rs. 450.

Balapur Laddu has auctioned for Rs 17.60 lakh while Vinayak Nagar near Film Nagar is of similar nature.
The laddoo at Vinayak Nagar was auctioned for Rs.17.75 lakh, piping the amount at auction at Balapur. The successful bidder here is Gawardhan, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Like Balapur Laddoo, the one at Vinayak Nagar was auctioned off last year for a price of over Rs. 15.10 lakh.
