Corona Virus in AP: Andhra Pradesh reported 17 new COVID-19 positive cases from six districts on Tuesday. The total has reached 40. Most of them are connected to a religious meeting in Nizamuddin, New Delhi. Health Department latest bulletin.
One of the patients was a ten-year-old boy, the youngest person ever infected with the virus in the state. He hails from Lepakshi in Anantapur and has a close relationship with a man who is returning to Mecca who is being treated in Karnataka.
Along with the boy, a 34-year-old woman from Lepakshi also returned from Mecca and was infected with a virus from a patient in Karnataka.
In Delhi, 24 of the 102 people tested for the virus have been positive since they were taken to the Lok Naik hospital, while another 200 are still waiting to be taken to hospitals. The state government said on Tuesday that another 11 people attending the Tabli-e-Jamaat conference had been infected in Andhra Pradesh, and were in touch with a patient.
Of them, eight are from Prakasam district, five are from Guntur district and one is from Krishna district.
“This was a heinous Crime,” said Delhi Health Minister Satyender Jain. Delhi Government had accused the organization of “gross negligence” and plans to file an FIR against Maulana of the mosque, saying in a statement that he condemned the mistake and did not violate the terms of the lockdown.
AAP MLA Athish Nizamuddin Markaz has called for stringent action against officials and asked why the Delhi police did not take action even though the government banned such meetings to check the spread of the virus.
Two people from Guntur who tested positive for COVID-19 and attended a New Delhi meeting were also the first Guntur person to come back from a meeting at a mosque in Nizamuddin, New Delhi.
Earlier, six persons associated with the New Delhi religious meeting had tested positive in Guntur and Prakasam districts.
The government has tested 164 samples since last night. Of those, 17 turned out to be positive, while the rest were tested negative for the virus.
