HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police conducted a cordon and search operation at the RGI airport on Friday evening to ensure the safety of all passengers at the airport in an ongoing drive against illegal activities and touts operating at the RGI airport.
Five people involved in the touting were taken into custody and three cars operating in the area were seized without proper permission from the concerned authorities.
The operation took place at the airport’s arrival area and the international departure area. More than 100 personnel led by DCP Shamshabad N Prakash Reddy conducted the search. The DCP said it would be used for passenger safety and also to regulate the activities of illicit vehicle operators, forcibly collecting large sums and choking people.
Anti-touting drives are being conducted at the airport periodically Cyberabad police to prevent vehicles and drivers operating without proper permits. The police have been asked not to use the private and unauthorized cabs that serve the low-cost pursuit and the use of registered cabs at the airport.
He urged people to use only registered vehicles to get to or from the airport. In addition, the entire campus is under electronic surveillance and more CCTV cameras will be installed to improve security aspects for the public, he added.
