IT Minister of Telangana State Mr. Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao on Wednesday has conveyed that the state government will be keen on encouraging the young entrepreneurs as part of the development of the state.
Speaking after launching a laptop Thinbook, priced at Rs.9,990, of a Hyderabad-headquartered RDP Workstations Pvt Ltd, the Minister said such packages would help harness the potential of young entrepreneurs. He also highlighted the need to deploy technology to bring about a social change.
RDP Workstations Pvt limited is the organization which worked in producing the most economical laptop Thinbook which costs around Rs. 9999 and this is a Hyderabad-based start-up. The minister in the meeting has conveyed that there will be a huge support from the state government which harness the potential of the young entrepreneurs.
IT Secretary Mr. Jayesh Ranjan said that this economical laptop would bring a revolutionary change in making people use the technology and also aims at bringing the objectives of Digital Telangana Programme. This would enable the programme initiative to set up broadband connection to every household.
RDP Workstations, which undertakes the design and engineering of the device will now outsource the manufacturing to Taiwan currently and in future they are planning to set up manufacturing facility in the state itself.
“We would come up with a finance scheme for people to purchase this laptop” once the sales of the laptop (Thinbook) takes place in the state”, Mr. Ranjan aforesaid. He Added that there are six villages in Telangana which have become 100% digital literate. He also conveyed that the govt engaged Indian School of Business to carry out a 3rd party audit on digital literacy levels.
