“Movements of suspects, unidentified persons and newcomers were verified. Their identity cards were checked. We are working on clues for chaddi banian gang members,” the ACP said. The police took up the special drive after the chaddi banian gang was spotted in Kukatpally housing board colony and Miyapur. The gang was involved in four offences in Cyberabad since September, including burglaries at Gachibowli, and Madhapur and other areas of Kukatpally.

According to police, these gangs were known for carrying stones and might not hesitate in pelting them at citizens, when someone attempts to catch them.

In their thefts, it seems there was no loss of much property. As of now, police collected fingerprints of the culprits from the scene of offence and are trying to compare it with the database of police to know whether the five culprits are previous offenders.
